It always gets confusing when you are about to choose a doctor. You have to examine yourself before going to the doctor. Keep a check on your symptoms and decide the doctor accordingly. When it comes to the urinary system, balancing the fluids and electrolytes of your body is an essential function of it. It’s not only about the secretion of urine, there’s a whole process behind it. 

Most of the people yet are not well aware of a urologist and what are the problems he deals with. It has been more than a year since I started practicing as a urologist in Islamabad. I have seen many cases in which people confuse their pain in the abdomen as stomach pain and totally neglect their urologic issues.

Urinary System: 

The urinary system filters the blood and releases urine as a waste product from out of the body. The vital organs of the urinary system include the bladder, ureters, kidneys, renal pelvis, and urethra. All of these organs have their specific functions and likewise specific diseases. So, each one of them needs your full attention. 

When You Need a Urologist?

There can be many symptoms which get confused with diseases other than urologic diseases.   1. Hematuria

This condition can be due to various issues like urinary tract infections. The presence of blood in urine is called hematuria. The blood from the urinary tract and kidneys leak into the urine.   1. Stabbing Pain in abdomen region

People talk about abdomen pain as stomach pain. But, they both vary in many aspects. Abdominal pain can be due to the pressure on organs in it. It may cause soreness along with pain in the abdomen. If you’ll neglect the pain, it may lead to severe infections and bladder problems like stone formation in it. 

  1. Suffering from Constipation

One of the chronic effects of the urinary system is constipation. It raises the risk of many disorders such as enlargement of bladder and fluid maintenance. Go to the doctor immediately if you feel the problem of frequent urination and are unable to voluntarily control it. 

  1. Urinary Tract Infections

Bacteria invading in your kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra can cause severe infections. Most of these urinary tract infections affect the bladder and the urethra.

  1. Difficulty in Urination

Instead of trying herbal home remedies, visit your urologist when you feel difficulty in urination or you suffer pain while urinating. Obviously it can be due to various reasons but a doctor can advise you better than anyone else. It is one of those symptoms that are identified earlier than others. Pain can be due to numerous reasons like kidney stones or bladder stones. Most of the patients who came to the Doctor Clinic told this symptom.

  1. Prostate Gland Enlargement

Prostate Gland is in males that release its secretion in semen. In the urinary system, if the pressure is on the organs around the prostate gland, then it leads to its enlargement. The actual cause is still unknown but it is relatable to the effect of hormones. People with older age have more enlarged prostate. 

  1. Problems with Fertility

In males, urethra performs double functions as a urinogenital duct. Thus, any kind of infection in his urinary tract can affect his reproductive system too. While in females, urethra and vagina both have their own functions. In pregnancy, stillbirth can happen if the kidney is inflamed or infection reaches out the bloodstream. It doesn’t affect fertility of females very badly.

  1. Mass in Testicles

Scrotum is the sac-like organ having testes in it. Notice the formation of any lump in your scrotum. If any, head towards the urologist asap. This lump is known as spermatocele or a spermatic cyst. Though it is painless and benign, it can lead to numerous deadly diseases. 

Wrapping-up

After these jeopardizing signs, you may feel the importance of your urinary tract and its functions. All the body organs are working coherently. If any of the organ of any system gets affected, it may prove peril to surrounding organs too. Easy step is to just take care of your diet, your exercise and a regular visit to your doctor.
