When you think about achieving a goal, you might experience excitement at the idea of doing it and reap the rewards upon completion. However, it might come as no surprise that getting started and seeing a goal through takes more than simply wishing, and it can be hard to cross the proverbial finish line. Keep reading for some suggestions on how you can make it easier to achieve your goals.
Start Small and Work Your Way Up
You might have heard this advice before, but it really does work. If you start with a small goal, it is much easier to achieve. Once you have achieved that goal, you can steadily make them bigger. If you only have a huge overarching goal, try to break that goal down into steps that can serve as smaller goals. For instance, if your goal is to write a 100,000-word novel, try breaking that word count into smaller sections and include the other processes of the book as their own sections. That way, the goal will not seem as overwhelming and you can focus on each step until you complete each one and reach the top. It is wonderful that you are thinking of the big picture, but you need to complete each individual piece of the picture first.
Establish a Routine Related to Your Goal
Goals can seem far away when you do not know what to do to achieve them. Doing a bit of research, identifying what you need to do to get there and setting up a routine to follow that relates to those steps will help immensely. For example, say you want to lose weight. Set a goal for how much weight you want to lose so you have a number to work toward, then do some research on what you need to do to get there. After you have identified what you need to do, establish a routine. If you need to take supplements in the form of the thrive experience, you will need to follow what the experience suggests to get maximum results.
Record Your Journey
It might seem futile and maybe a little stupid to write your progress down, especially if you are not used to it or you have a lot of faltering along the way. However, it is neither futile or stupid to record your progress, especially not if reaching your goal takes a long time, a lot of extreme steps, or both. A benefit of recording your progress is that it allows you to reflect on how far you have come. After you have spent at least a few weeks of recording your journey in as much detail as possible, take a moment to look back at the first day and read your own progress. You will be amazed at how far you have come in such a short time, and it might give you the inspiration you need to continue forward if you have been wondering whether you have really done anything.
A Friend Makes it Easier
When you are trying to achieve a goal by yourself, it can seem overwhelming, especially if that goal is a large one. When you have a friend in your corner, it can make all the difference. If you want to get to the point where you are running a mile every day, see if any of your friends are interested in doing it with you. Even if you are on a video call with them while you are both running on a treadmill, it will seem easier because you are cheering each other on.
Most people have a lot of goals that they have given up on, and you should not feel bad if you are among them. However, you can always improve your completion rate. Keep this article in mind the next time you are setting goals and hopefully you will be able to complete more in the future.
