When you think of Artificial Intelligence (AI), chances are a sinister Sci-Fi plot comes to mind. And this is the mark of our popular culture and the popularized version of AI that travels back through time to take over the world. But no need to worry about that. At least not yet.

Today, AI is making greater strides than ever before. And if you think that jailbreaking your Firestick or adding Kodi to it is a complex task (which it’s surprisingly an extremely simple process), the processing power of machine learning and AI is simply off the charts in today’s advanced world.

Artificial Intelligence is also revolutionizing the way many industries operate. And this is proving to increase productivity along with strengthening safety compliance. But this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the applications that AI can assist with.

Here, we’ll discuss 3 industries that AI is significantly changing.

Transportation

Believe it or not, you may have already driven alongside an autonomous truck. Yes, that’s correct. Self-driving cars have been on the market for a few years now, and the technology is only getting more advanced as time progresses.

In fact, the prototype phase for autonomous trucking outfits has already begun. And trucks have been being test-driven autonomously for the last couple of years.

Experts suggest that this type of AI will revolutionize the trucking industry. However, while it can streamline the efficiency of transport and safety compliance, it may also make the truck driving profession obsolete in the not too distant future.

In addition, V2X or vehicle to vehicle technology is being expanded. And this is the ability for a car to communicate with other vehicles embedded with the same tech, or road signs outfitted with wireless sensing equipment-making for a safer driving experience.

Healthcare

The COVID-19 pandemic has reshaped the way we live our lives across the globe. And in addition to this, it’s also systematically altered the healthcare industry, but not in the way that AI has.

In fact, AI has been used in the diagnosis of rare diseases where it would otherwise take months for a human to diagnose. Additionally, AI was instrumental in developing the COVID-19 vaccine so quickly.

And though people are still skeptical about getting the shot, AI and machine learning made it possible to identify and code trillions of cells which would have taken teams of humans several years.

Today, AI in healthcare is more advanced than ever before. From virology to using remote tools to help diagnose patients from miles away, chances are in the next decade, AI will even make it possible to have surgical procedures without error.

Manufacturing

The manufacturing industry has been using the old fashioned assembly line for over a century. And while these have also changed along with technology, AI is making these advancements even more efficient.

Today, the manufacturing industry is utilizing AI sensing equipment to monitor and track production, along with keeping in line with safety compliance. And AI based robotics are also being used to mitigate employee risk.

For example, where it might take a skilled worker to load pallets onto trucks in a safe manner, this task still poses a risk to the life of any humans around. Through the use of AI software and robotics, manufacturers can produce goods and maneuver products all via a remote or automated process.

Though we’re still several years away from a completely automated process that doesn’t require a human to monitor progress, the tech is here now and it’s proving to increase productivity levels across all manufacturing spaces that AI has been introduced in.

AI is only going to get more advanced as our technology improves and the need for efficiency becomes greater. But we don’t have to worry about AI taking over the planet just yet. Even though advances are being made in machine learning, humans still have a long way to go before the AI of science fiction becomes a reality.
